About the Organization

Mission

To be the voice of educators in North Carolina that unites, organizes and empowers members to be advocates for education professionals, public education and children.

Services

The Educators of Color Academy is an application-based program for members of the North Carolina Association of Educators that identify as minority. This grant is all inclusive of all minority races and classified and certified positions within the public-school educational setting.
The focus of this program is to recruit and retain educators of color while providing them with a support system and strategies to give them the necessary skills to be successful in their role and practice in education. This academy is a 3-year leadership development and training model that encompasses three unique phases aligned to the NEA Leadership Competencies. The 3 phases focus on self-discovery, self-actualization, and instructional facilitator. The program works to build a “Kijiji“ meaning village.
