In July 1984, Dr. Dudley E. Flood receives the Order of the Long Leaf Pine Award, North Carolina’s highest civic honor, from Governor Michael F. Easley. He later receives this prestigious award from Governor James G. Martin, Governor James B. Hunt and later from Governor Roy Cooper. The Order of the Long Leaf Pine is presented to individuals with a proven record of extraordinary service to the state.
