About the Organization

Mission

Citizen Schools helps all students to thrive in school and beyond through hands-on learning and career mentors.

Services

We offer a teacher support model, called Catalyst, that brings hands-on, real world projects and career mentors directly into science and technology classrooms. Our students are tackling public problems of importance and inventing bold solutions that accrue benefits to their local communities (e.g., designing new HVAC systems for their schools in partnerships with local engineers). Our pilot results from AY2018-19 suggest that this approach has a demonstrable impact on both social emotional skills, like collaborative problem solving and self-efficacy, as well as content mastery, for all learners in a classroom.
