Autism Advocacy w/ Tiffany Hammond: The Power of Storytelling Amplified by Black Families

October 26, 2024 @ 10:00 am - 12:30 pm

Free

Tiffany Hammond is an Autistic storyteller, mother, consultant, speaker, author, and advocate. She shares stories to challenge the notion of disability as a lifelong burden, fostering a community that explores intersectionality while inspiring thought leadership through storytelling, education, and meaningful dialogue.
In this session, Black parents will be empowered to harness the power of storytelling as a tool for advocacy, equipping them with strategies to effectively share their personal experiences and their children’s unique needs. By framing their narratives in ways that resonate with others, parents can foster empathy and understanding, creating stronger connections with educators, healthcare providers, and community members. The session will explore how to clearly articulate their child’s challenges and aspirations to ensure equitable access to resources and opportunities. Participants will leave with practical skills to advocate confidently and persuasively for their children’s future.
FREE CHILDCARE AVAILABLE ON-SITE; a sensory room will be available for children who may need a quiet space.
This event is free to the public; donations are appreciated. (Suggested donation: $10)
