Dudley E Flood was born in Winton, NC, on September 13th, 1932, to Willy & Van Flood. Dudley grew up alongside his eight siblings, five sisters, and three brothers. 

The school offers different opportunities compared to all-white schools, as it lacks additional funding from local sources. Consequently, students pay out of their own pockets for field trips. However, Dudley recalls that he has the best teachers who are devoted to ensuring the students are learners. While the teachers are proficient in English, they face challenges due to insufficient resources and support for improving their advanced mathematics instruction. Nevertheless, the teachers go above and beyond to provide their students with the best education possible.
